A few months ago, SoWhat.mobi reported that a poll by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life found that other faith groups, atheists and agnostics all know more about the Bible, church history, world religions and religion in public life than most Christians.
In response to the widespread Biblical illiteracy that seems present in the church, a group of seminary professors are offering their vast resources of knowledge to the public for free.
This free education comes via The Good Book Blog, which was launched this week, and which will contain regular posts on topics as varied as prayer, spiritual formation, historical theology and biblical exposition.
"At a time when biblical literacy is at an all time low and there are so many muddled, uninformed views of the Bible, something like The Good Book Blog is such a breath of fresh air," said the author of ‘Hipster Christianity’ and blogger Brett McCracken.
The language and tone of each post will range from simple layman’s terms to something more technical and theological as the Good Book Blog seeks to resource anyone wanting to grow in Biblical knowledge.
